We celebrated 18 months of creative partnership at the opening of the Sherwood Forest visitor centre.
On October 4th the RSPB officially became guardians of Sherwood Forest – one of the most important sites in Europe for ancient oaks as well as Robin Hood’s fabled home – by opening a multi-million pound, eco-friendly visitor centre on the edge of Edwinstowe village. Opening antics included the unveiling of a wood-carved Green Man, a host of speeches and more cake than you could shake a twig at.
A key date in our studio calendar, the event marked a significant point on in our on-going partnership with the nation’s largest conservation charity and their consortium of partners. Over the past 18 months Cafeteria have created an entirely new brand for Sherwood Forest, identifying it as a place ‘Where Legends Grow’, crafted a logo incorporating a custom typeface, designed, built and launched a fully responsive website, delivered interior signage and graphics, and drafted an entire wayfinding system for the ancient woodland which is soon to be implemented.
You can read all about how we got to this point here, but in the meantime we ask that you put on your little green hats and raise a prosecco-filled horn to the future of this world-class SSSI forest and the impact that branding and design can have on conserving magical places for future generations to enjoy. It turns out, there’s a lot to be said for seeing both the wood and the trees.
